I really liked the use of May's wall, especially the ending where Lily reinvents the purpose of the wall. I thought it was interesting to see the progression through Lily to a meaning other than alleviating grief and sorrow.
What was the reinvention? I don't remember that bit. I think the wall was also a spiritual thing that lifted the burden. The same thing happens when you pray, or talk to someone about some problem, or keep a diary. You're not carrying it around in your head or your heart anymore.
I can't remember exactly, just that Lily and Rosaleen took over building the wall and I got the feeling it's purpose had changed.
